Activities Provide Summer Sun for the Whole Family

Head to this city for a host of summer activities that are sure to keep children entertained. Adults just might learn a thing or two, too, with these happenings:

Pick up a kid-friendly Discovery Guide at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and encourage your child to answer questions on various artworks. Or, head to the museum’s courtyard from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer to engage in the “OK to Go” event. The program enables families to create pieces of art that relate to current exhibits.

Head to the Santa Fe Convention & Visitors Bureau’s offices in the Santa Fe Convention Center to grab a GPS device and a Santa Fe Adventure Passport — and prepare to go geocaching around Santa Fe Plaza. By tracking GPS coordinates and using clues, families can stop at eight different locations, and have the passport stamped. Return the finished passport to the bureau to receive a prize. Instructions also can be downloaded online.

Go stargazing, whitewater rafting, take a cooking class, enjoy a guided hike, explore Native American art at the Morning Star Gallery — or even go on a trek with a llama — through Santa Fe Mountain Adventures. The company offers family outdoor adventures that are both educational and fitness-focused. Check the website for details.
