"JEEP" ADVENTURES IN OUR UNIQUE SWISS ARMY VEHICLES

DIABLO CANYON

Book Now

Ride to Diablo Canyon in one of our fun Swiss Army vehicles. Enjoy New Mexico’s wide open arroyos and narrow dirt trails.  Drift in the sandy dry washes, learn about our high desert plants and wildlife, and delight in the spectacular views. This remote canyon is great fun for outdoor enthusiasts, especially rock climbers and hikers.  History buffs can trace the “Chili Line”, a narrow-gauge railroad that connected Santa Fe, NM, to Antonito, CO, from 1887 to 1941.  Furthermore, our guide will talk to you about El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, the historic trail that linked Mexico City to the Pueblo of Ohkay Owingeh.  The “Royal Road”, located near Diablo Canyon, follows a mostly forgotten original route taken by Don Juan Oñate as he led the first group of settlers from Mexico City in 1598 thereby extending Spain’s reach into the New World.

Our tour includes a short hike at Diablo Canyon where you will be able to admire the striking cliff formations, view fearless rock climbers, and chat with our knowledgeable guides about New Mexico’s rich history.

ROUTE 66 – THE MOTHER ROAD

Book Now

Route 66, or the famed Mother Road, came through the city of Santa Fe between 1926 and 1937.  Take a ride from the heart of Santa Fe towards La Bajada Hill.  The Pre-1937 Historic Route 66 brought travelers along the Old Santa Fe Trail to Santa Fe.  It passed the San Miguel Chapel and the Loretto Chapel, crossed the Santa Fe River, and then turned west on Water Street.  The original Route 66 headed south at Galisteo Street and Cerrillos Street before following the Camino Real out to La Bajada Hill.

Once out on the dirt trails beyond the city, you will have the opportunity to see some of the signage for the Mother Road and enjoy the expansive views. On the way back, we will add another layer to this historic route and show you petroglyphs that the Ancient Puebloans left on the area’s basalt rocks. This is a classic road trip that allows you to learn about New Mexico’s rich history and, of course, experience an iconic scenic byway.
